As my 1910 A/I Stathopoulos bouzouki is "resting" for second week in NY airport customs, and as my anticipation to finally receive it has climbed to the highest levels,  two photographs from 1910 's Christmas in NY, inspired me to search old images of 1900s era in USA, trying to outline the lifestyle which Anastasios Stathopoulos and his customers were experiencing back in these days.

From the era of Reconstruction to the end of the 19th century, the United States underwent an economic transformation marked by the maturing of the industrial economy, the rapid expansion of big business, the development of large-scale agriculture, and the rise of national labor unions and industrial conflict. Between 1900 and 1915, more than 15 million immigrants arrived in the United States. That was about equal to the number of immigrants who had arrived in the previous 40 years combined. In 1910, three-fourths of New York City's population were either immigrants or first generation Americans (i.e. the sons and daughters of immigrants).(http://www.loc.gov/teachers/classroommaterials/presentationsandactivities/presentations/timeline/progress/immigrnt/)
